Inspector General

Section 20.055(2), F.S., created, in all state agencies an Office of Inspector General to provide a central point for coordination of and responsibility for activities that promote accountability, integrity and efficiency in government. The Inspector General for the Florida Department of State is under the general supervision of the Secretary of the Department of State for administrative purposes and reports to the Chief Inspector General.

Our Mission

The Office of Inspector General (OIG) mission is to promote accountability, integrity and efficiency for the citizens of Florida by providing objective, timely audit and investigative services. The OIG conducts independent and objective audits, investigations as well as review of agency issues and programs to assist the department in accomplishing its mission.

Florida Chief Inspector General

Whistle Blower Hotline:

The Office of the Chief Inspector General, Executive Office of the Governor, operates the state employee Whistle Blower hotline. The hotline is maintained to provide state employees with the opportunity to report instances of significant waste, misconduct, or mismanagement with their respective Departments without fear of retaliation.

Get Lean Hotline:

The Florida Department of Financial Services operates a “Get Lean Hotline” to respond to comments about applicable to waste, fraud, and abuse within state government and to accept suggestions on how the state can save money.
