Conservation Lab

The BAR Conservation Lab, located in the Department of State headquarters in the R.A. Gray building in Tallahassee, is responsible for the conservation of artifacts in the state’s archaeological collection of objects recovered from state lands and waters. In addition, the Conservation Laboratory treats objects through contracted work from other federal, state, and local agencies.

The Conservation Lab is equipped and designed to accommodate both large and small objects. The lab treats archaeological objects like cannons, anchors, canoes, artillery shells and guns, architectural components, ceramics and glass, and other small objects.
