DLIS supports adult literacy

We support adult literacy and English for Speakers of other Languages (ESOL) programs at Florida libraries through resource sharing, collection development, statewide partnerships with government and nonprofit organizations, and by providing platforms for virtual discussions and peer-to-peer mentoring.

Express Reads

Express Reads are short, engaging books with reading levels accessible to adult literacy and ESOL learners. Library staff are invited to preview these titles to decide whether they would like to build a similar collection at their libraries. Express Read titles are available to Florida libraries via the State Library.

Florida’s five Multitype Library Cooperatives offer free trainings and staff development for Florida library staff.

The Florida Literacy Coalition

The Florida Literacy Coalition is a statewide organization that offers services and training to providers of adult education, adult literacy and family literacy in Florida. See the Program Manager’s Toolkit and Online Tutor Training.
