Directives
The Secretary of State as the Chief Elections Officer of the state has authority to issue written directives to the Supervisors of Elections (see Section 97.012, Florida Statutes). These directives will relate to the performance of their official duties with respect to the implementation and interpretation of the Florida Election Code or any rule adopted by the Department. The purpose of these directives is to enhance the Secretary’s duty to obtain and maintain uniformity in the interpretation and implementation of the election laws and ensure that other aspects relating to the conduct of elections are fairly and properly administered.
