Creative Forces
Registration for the Summit is now closed.
Creative Forces: NEA Military Healing Arts Network brings healing arts to service members, veterans, and their families through a standardized Creative Arts Therapies program in 12 medical treatment facilities across the nation, and support for therapeutic arts engagement in community settings. The program includes research on the impact of creative arts therapies and how they can be deployed to greater impact.
James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital in Tampa is one of four new clinical sites to the existing seven sites that provide creative arts therapies for service members, veterans and families dealing with traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
To launch the Creative Forces initiative in Florida, the Florida Department of State Division of Arts and Culture convened a summit at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts on October 23 and 24, 2017. Attendees learned and discussed strategies to increase access to therapeutic arts activities for military personnel and their families in local communities.
