The City of Ocala and the Magnolia Art Xchange present the 2022 Student and Emerging Artist Competition “Content of Character.” Experience the work of student and emerging artists relating to the theme of Content of Character. All artworks will be available for purchase unless otherwise noted.

“Content of Character” will be on display Wednesday, May 11 through Friday, July 15 at City Hall, 110 SE Watula Ave., Ocala, FL 34471. City Hall is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mon. – Fri.

How to Participate

The City of Ocala and the Magnolia Art Xchange invite artists, with less than one year to ten years of experience, to submit entries for the "Content of Character" 2022 Student and Emerging Artist Competition, which will take place Wednesday, May 11 through Friday, July 15 at City Hall, 110 SE Watula Ave.

Artists will compete in three divisions according to their respective years of experience including, High School Students, 1 to 5 Years of Active Experience, and 6 to 10 Years of Active Experience. All entries must have been completed within the last two years. Early entries will be given priority placement within the gallery and the juror will award winners in each division, as well as Best of Show. Awards will be presented at a reception taking place Tuesday, May 24 at City Hall. Prizes for this competition include scholarships to the College of Central Florida (High School Division), a feature in The Ocala Gazette (Best of Show), a professional artwork scan (first place in each division and Best of Show), annual memberships to the Appleton Museum of Art, Marion Cultural Alliance, and Magnolia Art Xchange (all winners), and a registration fee waiver for the 2022-23 season of First Friday Art Walk (all winners).
